Gaja Capital partners with entrepreneurs to build leading businesses in India's mid-market. With our extensive experience, we have developed a differentiated alpha-oriented strategy focused on high-growth sectors such as digital technology, consumer, financial services and education.

Incorporated in 1999, the firm is led by a group of experienced professionals with established track record in alternative asset management in India. A mix of investing and operational experience enables us to deliver tangible value beyond capital to our partner entrepreneurs. One of our fundamental philosophies has been to align our interest with those of our investors and partner entrepreneurs by investing significant capital of our own in our strategies.

With our extensive experience, we have built a customized investment strategy for the needs of the mid-market segment. Our investments are assessed, and our input measured, in three areas; scale, transformation and partnership.

Scale

We look at a business within its wider context. What is happening in that sector? Can this company be a leader? What would that take to achieve? Our team has multi-sector expertise and backed with specific research each member is empowered to act decisively.

Transformation

The right kind of growth – real and lasting – can only happen with the right kind of input and support. Success comes from identifying and dealing with the pain points that all businesses encounter. That is why we are committed to our relationships. Your problems are our problems and we offer strategic input to overcome them. This can be new business development, senior level hiring, business planning, better governance, or raising funds and restructuring. We look at these challenges as opportunities to make the difference.

Partnership

We invest our own capital alongside our investors. It puts us where we want to be – understanding the needs and expectations of entrepreneurs and maximizing returns for our investors.

PRI

We seek to hold ourselves accountable in terms of ESG compliance and investing responsibly. In 2015, we adopted ESG standards in our investment approach, and in 2022, became a signatory to Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP Finance Initiative and UN Global Compact.
